Celebrity Insurance: Would You Insure D'Angelo?

Comments (21)

D'Angelo, once a beloved neo-soul artist, has been in the news for soliciting sexual acts from a police officer. This is sad news, because D'Angelo was once revered as much for his sex appeal as he was for his musical talent. It is our deepest hope that D'Angelo return one day to the top of the R&B charts, touring for the fans that still love him. But his troubles could run deeper than feeling the need to buy intimacy. As recently as 2005, D'Angelo was convicted of cocaine possession, and "[t]hat same year, he got his license suspended for 18 months on charges of marijuana possession and drunk driving" (Cbsnews.com). But they say there is no such thing as bad publicity. It is possible that this downturn will put D'Angelo back into the public eye. In a "Robert Downey, Jr."-esque turn of events, he could get his act together, and take his act on the road. If D'Angelo did go back to recording and touring, would you deny him health, life, tour and/or car insurance based on his record? Or would you give this talented musician -- who has given us so much joy -- another chance?
